We are asking TAJA families to commit 10 volunteer hours per show to the program. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities, some of which can be done from home. We will have more information about volunteer opportunities for the Fall play in October. 

 

All volunteer opportunities in the school building will require SPS volunteer approval. If you are not an approved volunteer, we ask that you apply as soon as possible. Please use this link to start the process. If you are willing and able, please update your status on the SPS Volunteer Portal to Category B as we will be required to have some volunteers approved at that level.

Why Volunteer?

TAJA (Theatre at Jane Addams) was originally founded by a group of parent volunteers who wanted an active theatre program for the students of JAMS. At that time JAMS did not have a theatre teacher, and everything had to be contracted out. Shortly after the formation of the program Ms. Handley was hired and took the reins. Over the last five years she has grown the program to what you see today. We are the largest after-school club at JAMS with 80+ students per show. This entire program is run by one paid staff member and two volunteers. This system is unsustainable without a regular commitment from TAJA families.

We appreciate that this may be difficult for some families and want to make it as easy as possible. We are happy to get creative in finding ways that you and your family can support TAJA within your limitations.
